I also wanted a normal straight up rack for small aerial shells and salutes...whats a pyro to do? Make one that can do both! The two bottom block rest between the 1x4 side rails and the top blocks wedge in. A light tap with a hammer will make them nice and tight. I shot some test comets straight up and two fans of comets and bag mines from it last night and it worked out great both ways. You can buy a "de-burring tool" like in the pic from many hardware stores...one quick circle and its nice and clean. works on plastic and metal. PVC shatters and sends nice little razor sharp chunks flying at you. so does just about anything you can get at home depot. buy some nice solid HDPE or fiberglass tubes and you'll be much happier and safer. for HDPE i'd suggest noel at www.pyrogear.net thats where i've gotten all my 1.75 inch guns from. It's generally advised to avoid PVC in pyro. PVC tubes can be relatively safe with smaller devices, but shooting two inchers from pvc would be out of my comfort zone. Ill get pics of it with my other one I never got around to getting snap shots of. Oh and no you cant use PVC. Why? Because we said so, and thats just how it is. Go buy some cheap fiberglass tubes, or paper if you can find some. Just dont send more than 7 consecutive rounds through the fiberglass with out letting it cool, same goes for HDPE. Bad things start to happen to hot guns. I think i might set up some ply wood around a PVC mortar and throw a shell in upside down and take pics of what happens to it to show every one. He asked me what it was and I was like "... uhh, a pipe rack, you know, to hold pipe out in the shop." I just welded a 14" long piece of exaust pipe to a 6"x6" piece of steel plate, painted it, and bolted it to a couple pieces of scrap wood for added stability. Pretty cool effect for 50 grams of xCl + 1 gallon of Methanol... though I think that's a "giant" 4" fireball..... Try 25 grams of SrCl2 and 1/2 gallon of Methanol...
